Adult Protective Services (APS)      855-444-3911 

Adult Protective Services (APS) investigators protect vulnerable adults from abuse, neglect and exploitation by coordinating with mental health, public health, law enforcement, the probate courts, the aging network, community groups and the general public. When you call the 855 number (above), they will take your comments and give them to the county in which the person is living. Normally, you will hear back with 24-48 hours from the APS in your county.

Long Term Care Ombudsman      1-866-485-9393
The Long Term Care Ombudsman program is available for concerned individuals to investigate complaints, suggest remedies, and assist with resident rights, payments, issues, guardianship, and nursing home placement.

The mission of Area Agency on Aging of Northwest Michigan is to serve and advocate for older persons, adults with disabilities and caregivers by supporting their independence, dignity and quality of life. This agency may be able to provide funding assistance for in home care or assisted living/adult foster care through the MiChoice Waiver Program.

Older Adult Resources provide an array of services to Northwest Michigan’s seniors in unique and meaningful ways. They include the Senior Companion Program, Foster Grandparent Program, and working with area nursing homes and adult foster care to help provide quality of care.

A part of Michigan’s statewide effort to provide comprehensive services for persons who are nursing home eligible and choose to receive care at home. This program may be able to provide funding for in home care or for assisted living/adult foster care, if you qualify. This program is called the Waiver Program or MI Choice Waiver.
